That's not that much of an upset in U16. Rankings made 1x a yr and only for 1/2 season are worthless. Springfield always has a good team

I'm sure Carl doesn't think it's an upset either. He usually has a few good teams every year in Springfield and I'm sure he enjoys beating St. Louis teams at cup.

Not much of a surprise. Springfield SC's u16 girls qualified for Premier division in MRL for fall 2012. Goal keeper started for Glendale High School this spring, and is a key part of their trip to the final four in Class 3.

maybe Huge is not the correct word.. but WC was a 2x finalist so although Springfield is a very strong team they still knocked off a 2x finalist. I don't think anyone meant disrespect to Springfield.

They will be tested, especially the keeper and the back line, when and if they face Futura..Good luck to them, and to the rest of the teams advancing on to semis and finals.

Our worst state cup fears has arrived in Springfield with a vengeance.
All games indefinite delay at this point. Hard to believe with the rain we got and the predictions for the rest of the day that the fields have any chance to be playable today, or maybe even tomorrow with the weather predictions.

Did they change all of the schedules around today at cup? Did some teams play two games instead of three because of the rain?

The only games played today were games that counted towards advancement to the semis. If a team was already guaranteed a spot in the semi-finals, then that team did not play. If a game was between two teams who did not have a chance to advance, it was not played.

For instance, in the U-14 girls age group, only two of the eight games were played because three of the brackets had already been decided.

Well done Springfield and Lake Country Soccer. Even with the six hour storm delay on Monday, the fields were in such great shape, we were playing on them by 2 pm.

Congratulation to Tony Grasso with wining 2 hard fight games against KC Futura and LF O'Rourke to finally get a State Champion win at U16G something Stich and Pecher could only dream about.

He was right, they didn't win 4 they won 5, Viati finally beat Wipke 3-2, Futura won 3, Sporting won 1
SG down to 5 titles instead of their usual 7-8 but they are on the right track, just ask them.

Sneauman, you are aware that in most age groups SLSG didn't even send their top team? When you factor in all the finalists, semi finalists and the performance of their U-12 Girls playing up, I think that was a pretty solid showing.

Here is what I see based on results. I didn't include u19.
Girls
u13- Futura
u14 - SLSG
u15 - LF
u16 - SLSG
u17 - Viati
u18 - Kolping

Boys
u13- SLSG
u14 - Sporting
u15 - Futura
u16 - Futura
u17 - SLSG
u18 - LF

I don't see one club out performing another but rather a good spread of talent. There were some surprises on the girls side this year and I think that will translate into some player movement, not a lot, within the next few weeks. It will be interesting to see how the new set up for the girls this fall plays out.

Good luck to all that made it to Regionals!!
Let the kids play
