SLSG Alumni and University of Wisconsin freshman defender AJ Cochran was been selected to attend the U.S. Under-20 Men's National Team training camp in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. The 36-player training camp is being held Jan. 2-9.
Wisconsin Head Coach John Trask, "AJ had a great first year with us and to see him be called in by Tab (Ramos) the new U-20 National Team coach, shows that he's on the radar of the Federation and hopefully he'll enjoy a great soccer experience down in South Florida."
Cochran was a unanimous selection to the Big Ten's All-Freshman Team in 2011. The SLSG Alumni started in 18 games for the Badgers, scoring one goal and recording three assists for five points.

SLSG Alumni Defender Tommy Meyer (SLUH / Indiana University) went to the LA Galaxy in the first round of the 2012 Major League Soccer SuperDraft held Thursday in Kansas City.
"I am excited to be joining the MLS champions and can't wait to start training with the team," Meyer said. "I couldn't have been picked by a better team and organization."
Meyer capped off his Indiana career with first-team All-Big Ten honors in 2011. He started all 22 matches as a senior and finished his career as a starter in 79 of 81 matches played. This year he led the team and finished second in the Big Ten in assists with seven, while also anchoring the IU defense to eight shutouts.
"He's a player that has a good profile to be a center back in this league," Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena told LAGalaxy.com. "He has physical size. He's a good header of the ball. A good defender and a decent passer out of the back. Once we get him into our setting we can learn a little bit more and work with him and try to make him better."
Meyer joins SLSG Alumni Chris Klein who is now the Senior Director of the LA Galaxy Academy Program and Special Projects. For more on the 2012 MLS SuperDraft >> http://bit.ly/SLSG-MLS-SuperDraft-2012-Meyer

Re: St. Louis Scott Gallagher - Missouri Boys
no no for US Club ID2. Here is the article from SLSG home page and facebook:
SLSG U15 Elite's Logan Panchot and A.J. Palazzolo have been selected to the 18-player roster for US Club Soccer’s 2012 id2 National Selection International Tour Feb. 17-27 journey to Spain. The team will face FC Barcelona and Atlético Madrid, as well as a combined match against RCD Espanyol and UE Cornellà.
A total of 15 clubs and 11 states are represented on the roster (below), which is comprised of a team of male players born in 1998 selected from the two Fall 2011 id2 Program Training Camps.
The squad will face four opponents while overseas in addition to conducting training sessions and experiencing the day-to-day culture of some of the world’s most well-known professional clubs. The players will have the opportunity to see some of Spain’s largest cities, including Barcelona and Madrid.
A day after arriving in Barcelona, the id2 National Selection will take on both UE Cornellà and RCD Espanyol for one half each on Sun., Feb. 19. The matches will take place at the home ground of UE Cornellà with the first contest starting at 8:50 a.m. local time (2:50 a.m. ET).
The team will tour the famous L'Estadi Camp Nou on Mon., Feb. 20, a day before facing FC Barcelona at the club’s official training complex – Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper. Kickoff on Tue., Feb. 21 is set for 7 p.m. local time (1 p.m. ET).
After transferring to Madrid, the id2 National Selection will close out its competitive schedule at 8 p.m. local time (2 p.m. ET) on Thurs., Feb. 23 against Atlético Madrid. The match is slated to take place at Ciudad del Fútbol in Las Rozas, the headquarters of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), the governing body of soccer in Spain.
The team will cap off the trip by attending the FC Barcelona vs. Atlético Madrid La Liga game at Estadio Vicente Calderón on Sun., Feb. 26.
Joining the squad as a member of the traveling party will be U.S. Soccer Technical Advisor Juan Carlos Michia. Numerous former members of the id2 National Selection team have earned invitations into U.S. U-14 Boys’ National Team Camps in the months immediately following past tours, including multiple players who made their first appearance at a U.S. Soccer camp.
“We are very excited to have such a great collection of talented young players from all over the country assembled for the 2012 id2 National Selection International Tour,” said Gerry McKeown, US Club Soccer’s id2 Boys’ Program Director. “They will have a tremendous opportunity to not only compete against the youth academies from some of the world’s best clubs, but also to take in Spanish culture and experience life in a different country.”
Two of the players are veterans of the 2011 id2 National Selection International Tour, as Logan Panchot and Kevin Silva will return to the id2 National Selection squad.
Consistent with US Club Soccer’s philosophy that there should be zero or very little cost for participation in the id2 Program, US Club Soccer is funding the tour in conjunction with the strong support of Nike. There is no cost to players.
Once again this year, fans will be able to follow the id2 National Selection International Tour through video journals and updates posted on Facebook (facebook.com/usclubsoccer), YouTube (youtube.com/usclubsoccer) and Twitter (twitter.com/usclubsoccer). SLSG Open Cup Championship Match-Up Set
U18 Elite will take on U16 Elite - Tonight - Soccer Park New Main Field - 6 PM
U16 Elite punched their ticket for the SLSG Open Cup Championship Game by beating U17 White 1-0 in the second game of their semi-final series. The victory gave them a 2-0 series victory and a berth in the first annual SLSG Open Cup Final. Keegan Fouch scored on a pass from Connor Clasby in the 5th minute. The lone goal proved to be enough in the tightly played game.
The U18 Elite team defeated U17 Gold in both games of their two-game series by a score of 3-1 in each game to earn a spot in the Final.
The Final will pit two teams who have never played each other before. Kickoff is set for 6 pm on Wednesday, May 16 at the Soccer Park. The game will be played on the recently completed turf on Field #1. The winner will be crowned the 2012 SLSG Open Cup Champion.

Re: St. Louis Scott Gallagher - Missouri Boys
An update from Colorado.....Jason Hackett's second goal of the game in the 90th gives St Louis Scott Gallagher 18s a big 2-1 win over Real Colorado and completes a 2-0-1 trip. The seven point trip moves the 18s into 2nd place and a playoff spot with a big final game next Sunday against Sporting KC.
Though I'm not out there, I hear the goal touched off quite a celebration for the 18s!
Great effort lads!

The St. Louis Scott Gallagher MO U-16 Academy team was rewarded with a trip to Houston and the U.S. Soccer Development Academy Finals Week beginning July 16 with a 1-0 win today against Players Development Academy (PDA) from New Jersey.
The win culminated a week in Dallas for the SLSG team battling through the USSDA Playoffs. The squad, lead by Head Coach Tim Leonard and Assistant Coach Tom Bielicki, finished with a 2-0-1 record and seven points to win their bracket, also defeating San Diego Surf 2-1 and tying Solar Chelsea (from Dallas) 2-2.
"Our goal from Day One has been to make Finals Week in Houston, and our team stepped up all week and showed their true abilities," said Leonard. "It says a lot about the team's character, especially defeating the number one ranked team in the country (PDA) today."
Eight teams will take part in USSDA Finals Week, from 78 clubs across the country. Finals Week will be held July 16-23.
