Went from 3 wins to 9 in one year and played against the top programs. Adding a great keeper, and a strong midfielder this year will elevate Wisconsin to the highest ranks for sure. Cochran was voted one of the top 13 freshman in the country, but from post I seen last year about the kid (overated), (his oldmans influence), you would have thought he would be a college bust. I always thought the kid was pro material when he was freshman in high school, so either people really hated him and his old man, or they just can't evaluate talent. Coach Trask is either and idiot or an outstanding evaluator of talent. I'm going with evaluator myself. With that being said, watch out for Wisconsin sneaking up in the rankings. I know Trask is looking at some of our local kids to join the program, so I for one have turned into a Wisconsin fan and proud to see a local kid like Cochran representing our great soccer tradition. I hope to see one or two more local kids join the Wisconsin program because they will get a lot of attention if they want to play at the next level after college. GO BADGERS....

Well said...Trask has turned a couple programs around. A.J. is a player, always was. It's sad some of these kids get attacked due to parents, regardless of who is right/wrong.

I'm not sure why AJ Cochran and Coach Trask are being discussed here. I'm sure they're great people/player/coach but i just want to know where this years senior are going to play next year. But congrats to Cochran on a successful year.

todays student athletes more than likely did not grow up attending SLU game religiously as those of us during the 50's and 60's that dreamed of being a Billiken one day! kids want to leave town and go away to school for many different reasons.... Also with SLU being a private institution tuition room and board is more expensive, if a kids gets some soccer money it simply may not go as far at SLU as it would at say Missouri State or other schools. the reasons really vary.... For many kids it would not matter if Klinsman were the current coach they would simply go elsewhere for other reasons.

Did I just hear about the two top Missouri High School players committing to Wisconsin? I'm telling you....that's the next up and coming program. For all you high schoolers looking for a place to settle down into a killer program, and your good enough to catch the eye of their coaches.....you will be part of something very special.

Wisconsin is up and coming because they are recruiting STL kids? Let's try to be objective. I love STL players as much as the next but let me know when Wisconsin wins the Big 10

Hey walnutpaulie......I'm hoping to say Wisconsin wins the big ten in a few months. I hear the program is looking pretty good. A couple more STL kids coming next year should keep them solid, along with the other national recruits that arrived this year. And yes, they are up and coming because of the stud from STL that nobody in our own area could land. Dominating defenders like Cochran don't come around very often.
GO BADGERS!!!!

Like I always say, don't worry about where you play, worry about where the best coach's and training is. Great things happen with programs like that. Pretty stagnant around our area. No wonder the great ones leave. I hope more of our top players continue showing interest for Wisconsin if their coach's show interest in them.

It would be pretty cool if SLU and SIU-E would play each other in the early rounds of NCAA tournament.

I'm not giving up on a program that plays and is developing young kids. Freshman keeper and a lot of youngsters getting a lot of playing time. I watched a game where there wasn't one senior on the pitch. Top goal scorer out for the season with acl injury. Recruits for next season will play immediately I'm sure. The program is on the right track. As I said before, I still wonder why some of our top players reject offers from our local University institutions?

Sometimes it's more appealing to go somehwere that is trying to build a program than it is to stay local with institutions that continue being average, is my guess. Field conditions at SLU has to be a turnoff when recruits come visit, while SIUE doesn't seem attractive to a few top level local players who reject their recruitment offers. I think SIUE spends to much time recruiting players who were never D-1 players anyway. Thats been a big negative in my eyes the last few years at SIUE. And for gods sake SLU......do something about your field.

GO BADGERS

you are never going to get all local product to stay home, trask @ wisc i believe is one of the top coaches in the country will he be able to win at wisc probably not consistently except for indiana the big 10 programs are up and down soccer is not a big interest to the schools. i believe slu has found a coach and he will recruit the players he needs it not like stl has many d1 players every year, that has been slu problem sign stl player that should not be there
