M.L.S. players, where the average pay package is $138,169, down 6.6 percent from last season’s $147,945
Other reports say 90k a year.
The average salary looks good but does not hold water because of Beckams 6.5 mill and Donavans 2.2 mill, fact is 1 out of every 4 make 40k a year and well over 50% less than 100k, Quick Trip pays asst night managers 39,500 a year to start and you can stay for decades if you wish, soccer players last a decade if they are lucky.
The average WPS player salary in 2010 was about $27,000, with U.S. Women's national team players and top internationals earning around double that.

I'll send mine to college.

People act like STL has had a team finish in the top half of any of the 3 academy years. Send you child to school and have him or her play school ball can it really be worse than traveling and spending all the money to lose almost every game. If you can play the game academy or not you will get and opportunity to play in college. The person that thinks we have the same talent as 10-20years ago doesn't have a clue

"be seen" is a mandate playing Academy in the Fall during the ugly kick and run college season!  Every ego thinks they played better back in the day. 8) what if the MLS folds? will clubs mandate attendance to MLS games by Academy members?

http://www.mosoccercoach.com/ says all metro will be up tomorrow but they've been late before. All-whatevers are okay and a nice recognition but the process is based upon a lot of things. You like it when a kid's efforts are recognized, but there will be kids on there that come from the right place at the right time... so be it. For every player listed there's another who no one can say wasn't just as much of a player for their team. no harm by me to name a bunch of em.

I was looking at the player awards and is there any palyer in MO soccer that doesn't recieve somekind of recognition. There is all confernce then all sectional and then all state and they are all broke down by class. There are enough all state players to make up 18 teams that seems like a lot of all state players. Ill has twice as many players and a third of all state players. Mo Soccer acks like peewee sports where everybody get a reward

reccos: In class 2 the state is broken up in 4 regions, don't pay attention to the names, St Marys is a part of the Southeast region, not the St Louis region. The big prize is to be named to the All State team, that is the winners of the individual regions for the entire state. Who knows why they do it this way, I guess to make sure all areas of the state are represented. Congrats to the boys!

help me with this one. Grant Wilson is the player of the year which i think is great that a defender is voted POY. Now how can a different defender be an all-american and the POY is not. I would like to know how many class 3 poy have not been all-americans. This is why these awards are a bunch of bull

WOW! On what basis would Clancy get the nod at GK? Certainly not his HS performance. Seems influence from his position in club has carried this through. While he is an excellent keeper, others had much better performance during the HS season - even at Summit. He barely played over 50% of the time in goal at Summit and had a GAA almost 2x Leeker who played behind the same defense. How about Goldstein (Marquette) or Pashia (FZW)? This kind of selection just erodes credibility.

not sure you can finger his club on this one? i think shawn earned it as his playing time and GAA against the stronger opponents on the schedule stands for itself. if anything kudo's to a coach that can play a rotation of keepers and make it to the final four! Shawn is an outstanding keeper as i am sure the two other kids mentioned are as well... apparently more voters and i am sure there were many felt he deserved an edge.

I wasn't trying to "pin it" on his club as a negative as some like to bash SLSG (I find they put out great goalkeepers and Sean is one of them) more his reputation or teams he has played for in the club. Still, others seemed more deserving for their performance over the entire HIGH SCHOOL season which is what I thought the award was supposed to reflect.

An error in your post, Summit was eliminated in the round of 16 by Oakville (3-1), they did not make the final four. On the basis you have posted, why not give it to the Oakville or Desmet keepers...they were in the Championship game so obviously they did better against good competition as well.

I'm just saying...

Surprised I missed this after commenting earlier on my views of the keepers. I seen a ton of games this past season and watched very closely most every team. All the keepers in this area just aren't in the same class as the Summit or Lee's Summit keeper and a lot of other coaches must have agreed for these kids to get the nod. The last credible Gallagher keepers deserving of the all-state selection were Duncan (cbc) and Gomez (webster). And they deserved it because of their abilty, and all other coaches ability, to seperate a great keeper based on talent vs a good defense in front of an average keeper. So many schools just don't have a bonafide "great" keeper. Connor (vianney) I don't think was consistant enough to get enough votes, and he's a very good keeper. As far as the GAA at Summit, from what I seen most of those goals against both Clancy and Leeker, were atrributed to the first half of the season (uncontested breakaways and PK'S) until their coaching staff cleaned up their defense to go on and have the monster second half they had by going on an amazing winning streak which they carried into districts to win a very diffucult bracket of good teams. Thats just shows their coaching staff is pretty dang good. So in this case....and I understand your comment on how the selections are head scratchers sometimes, I think they got it right with the selections this year, and in the last 3 years. It just happened to be Gallagher kids. Somebody is producing some great keepers around here and if they just happen to be Gallagher kids, so be it. And I have no stake in Gallagher either but it will be interesting to see the awards next year with the foolish decision of not allowing all these acadamy players to play high school soccer anymore. If Summit has an all-state keeper next year without Clancy or Leeker then they may have to be considered as one of the better public school coaching staffs.
