Academy Evaluations

Postby overath » Wed Jun 13, 2012 12:38 pm

US Soccer published an evaluation of the academy system. The evaluation is based on a five-star rating in seven categories and they are evaluated against the best academies in the world.
Most academy programs received 2's and 3's in Player Development and Style of Play. FC Dallas was rated a 4 in each area, Real Salt Lake, and Red Bull NY rated 4 in PD. 16 CLUBS earned a 3 in PD and Style. That means 71 clubs earned grades below a 3!
That means those programs need better coaching. Coaching is the common denominator in PD and Style of Play. The players in 71 programs that earned less than a 3 are NOT getting the necessary coaching and are NOT developing players! - Jay Martin - Center Circle

How did our fantastic Gallagher academy grade out? I think you might be a little kind saying below 3 aren't getting necessary training. I would think a 3 or less would be more accurate. And that might be a little too kind.

I assume you're looking at the 2010-2011 evaluations. I don't believe the 2011-2012 evaluations are out yet as US Soccer states that the season ends July 1 and begins again September 1. SLSG received 3's in both PD and Style. SLSG Metro received 2 in PD and 2.5 in Style. Sporting KC received 3 in PD and 2.5 in Style. They are all in the link below.

Oldschool, changing the bar after the barn door is open is the oldest trick in attacking results that do not support one's theory (or in this instance your bias). Like it or not, US Soccer is the one setting the bar, not Gallagher and if their program is rated higher than 71 other teams then that is a good thing. If you really know the Gallagher guys, you'd know it still isn't good enough. The bar they've set for themselves is higher. Can't help bit note that those teams who did better than Gallagher have deep MLS pockets to pay for their academy programs and staffing.

Let's talk about your SLSG bias and how you continually provide excuses for less than adequate results in player development and on the field results

hey walnuts! you are sure quiet these days! Let me review the summer for you. SLSG has a team going to the Presidents Cup Nationals, a team going to the USYSA Nationals and a team in the USSDA Nationals and a team right now in Greece playing against the best players in the world with their Arsenal program. Oh and by the way SLSG won 6 Cup titles with their 2nd team players (for the most part). shhhhhhhh
