And I'm not bashing STL players, I'm just stating that juco soccer is gone, and it isnt the community colleges of stl that are to blame. If you aren't good enough to play d1 you are either going to hang them up, or see if you can find a school with an academic background that will allow you to continue your career and maybe help some with their tuition. Not many opportunities anymore to continue playing after college, and certainly very little money. Yes STL produces a disproportionate number of players for the size of our area, but even then look at how short your list is...
Many on this board are still in the 80s. Things change, it is okay.
I used to listen to music on casette tapes with a boom box, but I don't anymore..

Chuck44, you must not be that old cause I used to listen to 8 tracks on my boom box

You are on a thread about the future of JUCO SOCCER in STL, and you bring up irrelevant, misguided and ill-informed opinions...You can't even get your own argument right. Yes, 17 years IS NOT "Well over 20 years" like you stated. You always have been a fool, continue to be a fool and always will be a fool....

Who is saying that it has to be like it was in the 70's and 80's ??? I was born in the 80's ....

Who cares, soccer is much, much bigger in the region then it was back then. More kids, more teams more organizations... The fact is their is still a NEED for juco programs, but it will be out in St. Charles...not Norco and SoCo.

And please...the list I included was just a few names I rattled off the top of my head...STL is as represented more than it has EVER been from a number standpoint.

We have nutjobs like Hummel who goes around bashing every aspect of STL soccer...for what reasons?

Any moron could tell you that places like Texas, Cali and Chicago were going to pass STL up due to the shear population of these cities....god some people are clueless.

Well after Bruin and Ream who else is in the league from STL?
I think the statute of limitation has run out on Twellman since he retired. Bruin and Ream are excellent players the area has produced recently, who else is on this list?

STLCC

I caught the first half of the St. Louis CC scrimmage against Fontbonne tonight and I think someone must have known what they were doing.

STLCC totally outplayed Fontbonne. I left at half and it was 0-0 but Fontbonne was clearly being out played.

Someone said STLCC beat Harris-Stowe earlier 5-2.

That field at Flo is a disgrace. They would never have made Pete Sorber play on that.

One of "Pete's boys," MM is in charge of the facilities at Flo. Valley. Why is he letting the field go? Did they cut the funding for the fields?

thought I saw 9 of the 11 starters from Forest Parks team last year? and didn't Forest Park beat Fontbonne 3-1 last year?

Sounds like STLCC will have a successful year based off recruits from the previous year.

Combining players from 3 different schools sure can't hurt.

STLCC has purchased new goals, nets and backstops for both the game and practice field, yet Facilities hasn't installed them yet.

It seems that MM is afraid the program might be successful and steal some of his long lost glory.

I say, step up Matt and take care of the facilites, do your jog, and be part of the solution not the problem.

what's the story now? Record is 4-8. Just lost 9-0 (believe me I Know Lincoln is good) but JeffCo beat Lincoln.

I thought this team was supposed to be stronger? Are we sure they made the right decision? Doesn't look like last years all conference GK Ryan Essenpreis is playing full time. Anyone know if he is injured.

Finished the season at 6-11 (official record is 7-10 due to Jeffco forfeit)

5 more wins than previous two years for Flo.

Speaking of that anyone know the story on why certain Jeff Co games were forfeited and not others? Assuming one player was not eligible?

Let's hope they turn it around next year.
