Very happy to see this game back even if it's a spring matchup. What really surprises me is that SLU would take this game. Not sure who put this together but if I were the new SLU coach (McGinty) coming in I would not be happy having this game handed to me. Very little upside for SLU and some momentum for SIU at hand. Will be on hand to watch these two st. louis teams lace em up. Good luck to both teams.

What are you talking about it is a meaningless spring game. McGinty might not even know who the H?LL SIUE is

Hummel you just made my point. While it is a meaningless game in the spring, you have a brand new coach coming in to get a bunch of new players together to play a game that this area has been hoping they would see return at some point. Tell me how this benefits anybody other than SIU? When was this game put together? Shame on SLU admin for putting this on the spring schedule and handing this game to a new coach. As I said before, no upside for McGinty and players. Tell me if SIU wins this meaningless match they won't be thumping their chests all throughout STL.

if anyone takes a spring game serious they know nothing about college soccer. It is a glorified practice if the coaches care or administation they need replaced. These 2 programs should have played every spring

The coaches take them serious ...and if you can bring a couple thosand or so people into a spring game, then thats a win for SLU and McGinty...I agree, the outcome isn't really important to either program in the Spring, but it would be great for the STL community, and a great time to re-introduce this fun tradition.

It's just a practice game. The only few people who care are overzealous alumni.

When the game played as part of each team's official NCAA fall schedule, not as an exhibition, and they actually play for the bronze boot itself then you can call it the bronze boot game and hype it up.

I think SLU's decision shows some guts.

SLU isn't going to run from a challange, even if it is just for Spring bragging rights. Good for SLU and SIUe.

There will be many BB games to follow. The upside is that the old Baby Boomers (from the old BB days) now have an excuse to get out of mowing the lawn and taking out the trash for a couple of hours.

I applaud both schools.

agreed it is just a scrimmage like the old Lady of Loretto college tourney. (baby steps) However, it would be cool if someone would take the SLU coach to Busch Stadium sometime and explain to him that the 2 schools used to fill it up for soccer, (at old Busch Stadium when the 2 schools were legitimate powers.)IMO

Hopefully they won't take him to the 94-95 games when 2000 fans were showing up. The man showed up for his first day yesterday hopefully he will remembers his players names by the 3rd and you people really think he cares about the outcome.

Have to be pretty jaded to see the negative to these two teams playing each other. I hope it is a great day weather wise.

Come on guys/gals. If anyone really has a problem with this one then they probably will gripe when the sun comes up tomorrow! Two strong programs is good for St. Louis. Ultimately, who beats who is up to the 11 guys on the field for each team. As for us, sit back and enjoy the game. In the years to come, knowing Kalish and buying into McGinty I think we all will be privileged to see some great soccer games.

I wonder if SIUE will put SLU on the schedule for next year? After all the Cougars would have nothing to gain by playing an underdog who could upset them.
