BARCA
AS FOR the war of words leading up to the dull-fest, my quote of the week goes to Messi for his put down of Madrid counterpart Ronaldo.
Ronaldo was quoted as saying: “The God of football has sent me to Earth to teach people how to play football the right way.â€

While I love the Barca skill and style of play, I hate the constant diving, grabbing their face in fake injury and the surrounding and badgering of the referee every time there is the faintest contact. It is disgusting to watch. I hope (but it won't happen) that FIFA or UEFA would review the video of the multiple "no-contact" simulated injuries by the Barcelona players during the recent Champions League games and hand out some suspensions. Maybe that will send a message that it won't be tolerated.

Ive been watching a lot of European soccer the last couple of months, and the diving, fake injuries, rolling around........ is not just Barca, it's just about every game no matter who the opponents playing each other are. Gets real old every time there is a tackle, there is an injury

Re: BARCA
I watched one of Barcas lower division teams the other night, if you think the #1 team moves the ball well you should see how their system works against lessor competition, from the 72' to the 82' they had 100% possession.
In the end it reminded me of some of the SG teams, after possessing the ball 75% of the game, they lost 1-0 and it could have been worse, but the ball movement was the best I have ever seen in a game, they just couldn't make that last pass that split the defense to score like the big boys do.
My problem is LaLiga and Seria A games are no longer on GOL TV, they are on beIN(620 on Directv) which is owned by Al Jazeera, and I won't support anything to do with them, so no more Barca games for me.

Wellll Noooo, I'm comparing teams that possess the ball but can't score against their competition what ever level! The #2 team moves the ball better than the #1 team against lessor competition until they need to make that last pass for the shot that the #1 team is the best in the world at making. Had you watched the game you would know what I'm talking about, it was the best possession soccer I have ever seen, but you obviously didn't so why open your mouth.

Re: BARCA
Because your generalist view is skewed! If you know anything about the history of Barca' s philosophy it is more than just possession! Results mean little to their developmental principles unlike SLSG...so your comparison is filled with wishes and dreams not reality!

Pep was at the PROFESSIONAL level not at the youth level at La Masia where technical skill and creativity are valued over physical precociousness and winning meaningless games and tournaments as evidenced by our backward culture! Someday someone will break the mold and put the player first in non- funded club- ville!

Welllll, SO WERE these guys, it was the B team, PRO's, they get paid! It wasn't kids, where did you get that out of the post?Pep was at the PROFESSIONAL level not at the youth level
Barca coaches can win 49 out of 50 and if they lose the big tournaments they get fired, winning is everything to them!

Re: BARCA
Like these?
They are not just the best team, also the highest paid team in the world by like a million per player a yr. and pretty bad business men from what I read, headed for real serious financial problems.
Barcelona B
Spain
Segunda Division
FC Barcelona B
"Barca B"
Founded: 1899
Coach: Eusebio Sacristan
La Liga: 2011-12 Season: Can Barcelona B get promoted to La Liga?
No, they cannot.
In Spain, the B team is effectively the reserve team for the first team. And it is not allowed for both the reserve and the first team to compete in the same division.
So, since FC Barcelona play in La Liga, Barcelona B can be promoted only up to the Segunda Division.
Barcelona will offer winger Cristian Tello a new contract. He'll continue to be registered as B-team player but get first team salary.
