State Cup 2012 - Springfield Missouri
Moderators: GRAPEVINEsoccer, Wizfan, TheLink, EWQsoc
What's also hard to believe is that S'Field was allowed to change their bid to suit MYSA's needs while no other enterants were allowed to.
Nothing we can do about it now. Just enjoy the drive down 44 I guess.
Be sure to let your club directors know how happy you are to have the opportunity to make the trip and that they should vote accordingly when the board elections come due.

You can complain all you want to your clubs directors at SLSG and they could give a rat's a__. They do as they want to please themselves, could care less about the rank and file because if you get pissed, so what, they have plenty of others to take your place.

The fields at Legacy(KC) were actually in good shape, MYSA insisted they leave the grass that long, we were there 3 days before the boys started, they had just cut the grass and the guy told us they never leave it that long, nothing they could do about 11 inches of rain in 2 weeks.
SLYSA was bad because we didn't have anywhere near normal rain, roger should be looking for financing for a sprinkler system at slysa instead of turf fields at SP or a new complex, although they might cancel games every time they used it.
In VG's defense, his boss was sitting right there so he really had no choice, however the eastern district have 5 of the 11 votes so all they need to do is sway 1 vote our way, and they got it from a KC rep., had SG voted to stay home we would have.

I have never gotten a straight answer from anyone on why the fields were in the shape that they were in at SLYSA last year. My feeling is that they were cut way too short right before the games began. To me that makes no sense whatsoever. As the week went on the fields got progressivly worse as they should have. Play suffered as a result.
Regardless, the fact remains that VG and his boss played politics. Any other spin put on that decsion is worthless.

What about the prking

Cup should be in St. Louis this year, it's not and I'll drive to Springfield. I've accepted that. This is about the $ for the hundreds of families who have to fork out additional travel expenses. If I said it wasn't about the $, I would be Albert Pujols.
Once the so-called "power" of the board has been removed, the debate is over, but that would require common sense and we can't have that.
I don't beleive anyone has discussed the parking fees SLYSA charged everyone last year. The average team with 18 players paid about $630 per team in parking. That doesn't include any parking funds raised from family or friends attending the games.
Springfield doesn't charge parking. To be fair, SLYSA received an extra $63,000 at a minimum.

Springfield won't charge parking (the facility doesn't set up for a parking charge), but they will get there money from the hotel reservations. At least they did in years past. Either way you are paying.

Amazing and no wonder people get bad names when you post incorrect information.
MYSA charged parking last year and if you did the math and based it on a 16 player roster and assume one care per player you get to around $400 per team. MYSA wanted to charge $1000 for State Cup.
$600 entry fee + $400 parking = $1000 for Cup.
Don't be surprised if you see parking fee's in the future wherever State Cup is hosted.

MYSA AND SLYSA split the parking money, mysa told them to charge $25 instead of $10, each team usually carries 18 for cup($450) and the fee was $850 last year($1300), $650 in KC the year before and $650 in springfield (the year they wanted to raise it to $1000), $600 before that.

I have seen the sprinklers on before at SLYSA. We played a night game this fall at SLYSA on the field by the concession stand (maybe field 11) and the automatic sprinklers came on during the game. So I know for sure that field has sprinklers.

The parking fee last year was $10 per day, or $40 for a pass for the week. I beleive most teams played a minimum of three games. I used $35 as an average per player. 18 players * $35 = $630 per team.

It was $25 for a pass or $10 a day(compared to $5 everywhere else if it's not free), I imagine ALL team member families bought the pass to save $5, spectators probably paid the $10.
I'm sure MYSA gave them a flat figure for their end since it was cash, slysa kept the rest. Those hotel kickbacks are not as much as you would think either.

The hotel rebate is $7-10(approx 10%)per room, per night. It's the same rebate levels as traveling tourneys. That why there are approved hotel lists, and your team can be booted from the tourney if you don't stay at an approved hotel.

there is so much bad information out here. Ask JO who is on both boards how the parking was split. I think you will find the vast majority (if not all) went to SLYSA. and with that much money at stake for parking, springfield I am sure will find a way to collect it.
Any bets?
