If I am not mistaken the Manu U and AC Milan both played the BFC team a few times. I am not sure of the score but I know the SLSG teams won both the games that I watched.

BFC has played SLSG AC Milan twice and beat them both times 1-0. They played McMahon Ford once and beat them 3-1. They have SLSG Bayern Muich and beat them 1-0.

oh

Postby defender69 » Thu Dec 18, 2008 7:04 pm

maybe i am getting the teams confused then but i could have sworn i watched the Manu-U team beat them in an indoor tourney lst year. Maybe I am getting the ages mixed up. Either way, they are one of the best teams in this age group for sure. Maybe the Man-U team was playing a different age BFC team in that tournament but I want to say the final score was like 7-3 or something. please correct me if I am wrong. My son plays for Chelsea and it was a game before ours so might be wrong.

Did they have Danny O'keefe playing forward for the Manchester United team? I'm sure he could have scored all 7 goals.

You could be correct about the indoor, but the outdoor scores can be found from the NORCO tournament, Gallagher Friendlies, and BFC's own tournament.

new league needed

Postby defender69 » Mon Jan 19, 2009 2:53 pm

the U-9 age group needs to start a new league. The leahue should consist of the following teams. SLSG Arsenal, SLSG Man-U, SLSG AC Milan, SLSG Bayern Munich, BFC Beast, Mcmahon Ford and the better AFA team. Its ashame that none of these teams play on a regular basis. The SLSG team play each other, the Mcmahon Ford and Afa team plays in Slysa and not sure what league the BFC team plays in. Our youth players are only going to improve if they are pushing each other and competing against teams of equal talent. 10-0 wins does nothing for the development of these kids.

I know that this would never happen, i am not really suggesting a new league be started for one age group. I jsut think it would be great if these teams seen each other more than just tournaments.

BFC played the U10 Division 3B last fall and finished second. Tentative assignments for the U10 is keeping the team in Division 3 as no teams were moved from this division yet. McMahon Ford has been tentatively placed in U10 Division 1.

Personally, I would love to see the situation as you have stated but SLSG controls that issue with the need to keep everything inhouse this year at the younger groups.

You are correct about the 10-0 development comment.

I agree with defender69. McMahon ford did the right thing moving up to U10. They were undefeated in the fall Slysa league. The best competition came in the AFA game which they won 4-1. AFA finished 9-1-1.
With the spring brackets out now, I don't think the AFA team will see much competition.
It will be interesting when STLSG teams start to play out of their club.

yeah, i took a look at the SLYSA spring schedule and Mcmahon Ford should have another easy season. I really think its ashmae that this team dont get to play against quality competition. Nothing against the other teams b/c I know they are young and learning. I just think the other u-9 teams are going to bypass Mcmahon unless they start to get pushed a little more. Winning 10-0 or 9-1 is just going to teach them bad habbits that will hurt them in the future. Once the SLSG teams start to merge 3 or 4 of their top teams they will run into this same problem. I really would love to see one league in the future that host all the teams in the st louis area. The inner league stuff just makes no sense to me at all.

I guess it all depends on the team. I now at u-11 they slim down the amount of teams but not all of them play in SLYSA. I just looked at the u-11 Spring Slysa schedule and there are some SLSG team playing but not all of them. I know this is the first year for the academy team. I am 100% sure that the u-10's only play the inner league scedule as well b/c there were over 20 teams in the fall.
