Didn't know Illinois Cup had already started. Good luck with those Fire Sockers. I think we played them a couple of weeks ago and they are a very good team. They were listed as Fire Jr. Red 11 but wore Navy Sockers tee shirts.
If that's the team, I think you'll take them.

Congratulations to the SLSG Metro Blue Girls for winning the U13 Illinois State Cup Championship. What a great accomplishment. Parents and coaches should be very proud of this group of girls. Well done players and coaches!!!!

Very proud of SLSG Metro Blue 98-99. They beat Eclipse Select Black yesterday in the Final 3-2. You had a great State Tournament! Good luck to all our teams in MO state cup. Thanks for all of the well wishes and congratulations from our friends in soccer. Let's make some noise at regionals!

Great job Blue! I can't say it's a shocker that they did it, but it is for sure a nice suprise.

The teams for the Missouri State Cup are all about sealed up with KC Futura and SLSG Navy winning this weekend in Columbia.

Looks like the field is all set for Cup as Bino's Red claims the last spot. With one notable exception, the play in games went exactly as I thought they would. Good luck to all St. Louis area teams. Let's make it an all STL Final Four. And where oh where is the SE. Mo Lightning? You'd think their coach would be eager to show that their gaudy Got Soccer rankings were justified. Can you say paper tiger?

Any predictions? I'm calling SLSG Elite in the A bracket, the rest is pretty tough to call. For B, Brinker is pretty hot right now, as is Schneider. D bracket is too way close to call, C is also pretty tough to call. I think the D bracket is probably the toughest head to head battles.

I think you're pretty spot on. I'll take SLSG Elite in A, but those girls are a little beat up and haven't played well in heat. B is a very competitive bracket but I'll give the edge to Schneider. C is wide open and I expect either SLSG U-12 Elite or Marty Mannion's girls to win. Did Marty lose a couple of impact players recently? D is the toughest path to the semis. I don't think most people around STL realize how good Futura is. They could win it all.

Unfortunately I think it will come down to who is better prepared for the heat. We practiced all weekend long and saw several other u13 teams practicing at the same time we did 1-3pm. I think this preparation will help come the seond half of a game when it starts warming up.

I'm going out on a limb and saying Futura v. SLSG u12 Elite or Schneider (having a hard time picking between those two) I think I give the edge to Schneider as they were preparing in the heat all weekend and if they keep it up it will go a long way.

I actually think Futura could take the whole thing and that's my predicition...my last few prediction have been wayyyyyyy off so there is a good posibility this one will be as well. :D

I'm going to go with SLSG U13 Elite, I saw Futura play a couple weeks ago and not to take anything away from them but I wasn't blown away (although I was very impressed with one of their players). That, and Futura has the hardest route in the tournament IMO.

No way am I going to jinx SLSG Elite by picking them to win. In fact, I think they will be lucky to get out of pool play with a point.

couldn't agree more with the post about the teams training in the heat to prepare for Cup. Hopefully they are running extra sprints, hills, etc to get prepared. The most physically able should win cup. Athleticism always wins..

Surprised to see that one of the top teams in the state, the Spirit of America Pink Panthers from KC are not playing in Kansas or Missouri State Cup. Anyone know why?

I had thought someone said at the Emerald Cup last year that they were a traveling team (I believe thats what they are called) where it's a mix of select players from multiple clubs that do tournaments together.

Athleticism always wins? I would rather have a team with good soccer players and a few good athletes mixed in.

Could be Coop. My daughter's old team played them in the Gallager Friendlies U-10 year and it seemed that their uniforms didn't really match. At that time I think they were playing under the KCFC banner.

The Pink Panthers are coached by the Head Coach at Lees Summit North HS. He doesnt enter his teams in cup as it would interfere with his prep each year for the HS girls state tournament. He also does not coach them past U13 and traditionaly they break up at that age and go their seperate ways.

The Blue Valley Stars Aberdeen punched their ticket to Saginaw last night with a win over the KCFC Pumas in the K-State Cup Finals. The BV team is very good and very underrated. Speaking of punching, the Wichita Cyclones and their obnoxious parents and coaches will be going nowhere but back to the trailer park.
