The October 4 coaching session has been posted to the ASET website. The title of the session was ‘Unlimited Pattern Play’. The problem with traditional pattern play is that players do not follow the pattern and/or pass the ball in a manner that is not consistent to the demands they face in an actual game. Often times players are too casual in their passes and do not fully concentrate because there is little to no opposition; players are also told where to pass the ball. Unlimited pattern play provides players the best of both worlds. Through unlimited pattern play, players are given autonomy for their own decisions as that is consistent to the demands players face in the actual game. As players maintained possession the demands placed upon them increased.
Other training activities posted to the ASET website include:
--Dynamic Warm-up
--Improving off the ball movement - Part 1 and Part 2
--Small Sided Game to Improve off the ball Movement - Part 1 and 2
As coaches, we know it is more difficult to attack down the middle of the field rather than going over the top or attacking down the flanks. In order to achieve success playing down the middle of the field players must move and interchange positions away from the ball. The above activities develop this understanding among players and it can then be applied in the actual game.
If you have any questions regarding membership or the coaching points to any training activity do not hesitate to contact ASET at sales@asetsoccer.com

Dear Coach,
Below is the latest news and postings from the Association for Soccer Education and Training (ASET).
Tactical Awareness Situations:
There are many advantages teams enjoy over their opponents; athleticism, skill level, mental toughness. When these aspects are equal or you find your side is inferior to the opposition, where can a coach find the difference that will enable their team to be successful? The answer lies in the tactics they implement as a coach.
Every several weeks ASET will post a different tactical situation for coaches to read, analyze, and answer. Each situation will show the movements of the opposition and ask coaches, utilizing a particular formation, to place their team in what they believe are the appropriate defensive positions.
While there may be several ways to shape up a team defensively, prior to providing a new tactical situation, ASET will post one way to organize the team for the specific situation given. ASET will also provide reasons for positioning each player in that manner. You can view the first tactical situation by visiting the front page of the ASET website, www.asetsoccer.com

Dear Coach,
Below is the latest news and postings from the Association for Soccer Education and Training (ASET).
Tactical Awareness Situation - 4.4.2 Pressing High Against A 3.5.2
Your team is defending and has elected to press high up the field. As the coach, you feel it is more effective for your team to win possession closer to the opponent’s goal rather than dropping off toward your defending half. The opposition goalkeeper has the ball in his hands and throws it out to the attacking right center back. The attacking team is in a 3.5.2 formation with one holding midfielder and two attacking midfielders. How would you coach your players to deal with the situation?
To view the diagram visit the ASET homepage and download the tactical awareness situation; www.asetsoccer.com
